Most people wouldn't think the numbers on your house, apartment, or business are that important, but when seconds count and emergency personnel are trying to find your address the larger and more visible the numbers are the better! It recommended that at least 4 inch letters/numbers be used, and that they be reflective. In rural areas it is recommended that 4-6 inch letters/numbers be used. The bigger, and more visible they are the better! It is also important to know cross streets close to your residence to tell the dispatch center. This can easily put emergency service personnel in the right area without them even having to look at house numbers. A good idea would be to write this information down on a pad of paper next to the phone, this way no matter how excited you become all you have to do is look down and read.
