EMT-Paramedic

The Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (EMT-P) level of certification is held by those individuals who successfully complete the USDOT EMT-P course and have been certified by the WV Office of EMS.

EMT-P's who serve with the Ceredo Volunteer Fire Department are designated to perform the following tasks:

• -    All C.P.R Driver and EMT-B skills
• -    Initiation of IV lines
• -    Administration of approved medications
• -    Insertion of endotracheal tubes
• -    Chest decompression
• -    Use of manual defibrillators
• -    Other skills approved by the state, regional and squad medical directors
• -    Other duties as assigned and allowed by laws and regulations

In addition to these tasks, EMT-P's are required to complete daily duties and supervise CPR Drivers and EMT-B's where appropriate.

The EMT-Basic reports to the EMS Director and works either a scheduled shift or responds to second calls as appropriate.
